Dress is ok

This dress is made well, but the material is a lot heavier than I thought it would be. The shelf bra did not fit well so I cut it out as it was pulling at the arm holes. I ordered it in a petite size, but feel that its still too long, I'm 5'1.

Review of dress

No, this dress did not look good on me. The material I was looking for was a lightweight thin dress instead of the cotton thick dress.

Disappointed

The dress looks awesome on the model - not so much on me though. It's too long (I am 5'4) and reminds me of a sweat shirt. The shelf bra works but I had a bra on when I tried it on so it actually looked good - that is, until I looked down below the band - bleh. Maybe a petite version would work better but I'm not sure I want to risk having to return another.

close but not...

I bought several of these in this length and shorter version. I wish the band that gives the dress shape went all the way around the back or came as tie in back or back has long pleats to give shape. The back looks like a straight sack. Also, the colors are weak. Agree that once washed the dress looks old/worn out. I had high hopes and would have bought multiples if material and style were better.

Cute style but I hate the shelf bra

I had high hopes for this dress. Based on the picture, it looks like one of those classic easy-on, easy-off styles that can be thrown on at a moment's notice and accessorized to achieve a variety of looks. In reality, the shelf bra makes this dress a nightmare to put on in the morning, to take off at night, and to wear all day in between: confusing, uncomfortable and just plain weird. I tried taking the inner bra out so that I could enjoy the dress in peace, but I discovered that I would have to take the whole dress apart, take the bra lining out, and sew the dress back together. Not worth the trouble. Too bad. It's a nice length and a cute style. I would have ordered one in every color, and in both the 3/4 sleeve and sleeveless styles, if it weren't for that stupid bra. That ruins it. I hope Chadwick's will consider offering this dress in the future without the unnecessary nuisance of the attached shelf bra.

so-so dress

I ordered a 12P. The material is comfortable, but the shelf bra is thin--it's obvious you're not wearing a regular bra, if you know what I mean. Just as annoying, my dress doesn't flare out prettily at the ankles the way it does in the photo. It keeps folding inward along the pleat lines. It kicks out as I walk, but the effect is a dress that's wider at the hips and narrower at the ankles--not a flattering silhouette for all bodies!

Long time Chadwick customer

I read the review prior to purchasing this dress in pink and blue. so I ordered it in those colors. the description describes the colors as Raspberry and Turquoise. Colors actually looked more like a deep rose and powder blue. My comment is I was hoping for a richer looking color and I washed them prior to wearing. it did was well. they both look like old dresses now. I haven't worn them yet. They must be ironed before wearing. One more thing, the dresses are true to size, I purchased in size large. That was perfect. I would normally wear an Extra-Large size. Nice amount of lycra in the garments like the way they fit.

Very Berry is Muted

The material is comfortable and the size seems accurate. However, the color is not as vibrant as it appears in the photo. Beware, it is a duller, more muted color.

Gorgeous Aqua

I love the color(aqua) and fit of this one. It is very flattering. I am 5 foot 10 with a large bust DD and small waist. It does fit snug with the built in bra(not sure why they have one in it)but it's very flattering. The lightweight material is good for the hot summers here in Atlanta but it has to be ironed because it wrinkles so easily.

The Perfect Summer Dress

Yes,the fabric is thin as "Knitter" stated, but it is generously sized. I am a generous 12 and the medium fit me perfectly. And at 5'7" I loved the longer length which is so hard to find for taller people.
I ordered the Black and the Papaya, but I will send back the Papaya as the color is more "terracotta" and less pink or salmon as shown. But I will be ordering other colors. A great dress for those of us who have to live through the hot, humid summers of the Delaware Valley.

a bit snug

I agree with knitter's review. I usually wear an 8/10 (size M) but this looked a bit fitted in the picture so I purchased a large, just in case. Being bustier than most, the dress fits quite tight, even in the size large. Gives me motivation to drop a few pounds. It looked okay with "spanx" but will wait till I drop a few pounds before I wear it again. It's that pretty.

GOOD TO GO

I love this Maxi I brought the aqua colored dress and first off the color is complimentry to my pale skin(gives me a darker look. The top is tank top style and shows off my necklace as if the necklace were in a frame. I am small busted and so I have a nice fit for the bodice. I wear a slip with it and love the weight of the material. It will be great wo wear in the hot summer we have in california. I am very happy with the length too. I dont like the idea of a dress touching my feet or worse grazing the floor this dress comes above my ankles (I am 5'6" ) this is a simple long dress that flatters without frills and does not over power me cuz I stand out not the dress. if you are in the market for a maxi don't pass this up!

wimpy fabric

This is really pretty but rather wimpy fabric for a $50 (plus shipping) dress. I’ve had t-shirts with denser fabric.

Be warned if you are really busty the ‘shelf bra’ doesn't work of course, but it pulls the front down -- not enough fab but probably good or ok for less well endowed women. - I’m going to remove the elastic and probably put in a looser elastic to keep it down and smooth without having so much cleaving showing.
Also really needs a slip.
